Description

PF Chang’s Chicken Lettuce Wraps are a flavorful and healthy appetizer featuring ground chicken cooked with garlic, ginger, water chestnuts, and a savory sauce, all wrapped in crisp butter lettuce leaves. This recipe is perfect for a light meal or party snack with an Asian-inspired twist, ready in just 25 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground chicken
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 1/4 cup hoisin sauce
  • 2 tablespoons low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 cup water chestnuts, finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup green onions, sliced
  • 16 butter lettuce leaves

Instructions

  1. Prepare the sauce: In a small bowl, mix together the hoisin sauce, low-sodium soy sauce, rice vinegar, and sesame oil. Set this sauce aside for later use.
  2. Cook the ground chicken: Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add the ground chicken and cook for 6–7 minutes, breaking it apart with a spatula, until it’s fully browned and cooked through.
  3. Add aromatics: Stir in the minced garlic and grated ginger into the cooked chicken. Cook for about 1 minute until the mixture becomes fragrant.
  4. Add crunchy ingredients: Mix in the finely chopped water chestnuts and sliced green onions to the skillet, combining well with the chicken.
  5. Incorporate the sauce: Pour the prepared sauce into the skillet with the chicken mixture. Stir well and let it simmer for 2–3 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly and coats the chicken.
  6. Assemble the wraps: Spoon about 1/4 cup of the warm chicken mixture into the center of each butter lettuce leaf.
  7. Serve: Serve the lettuce wraps immediately while warm for the best taste and texture.

Notes

  • Use ground turkey or tofu as alternatives for a different protein option.
  • For added heat, sprinkle some red chili flakes or add sriracha sauce to the hoisin sauce mixture.
  • Butter lettuce can be substituted with iceberg or romaine lettuce if unavailable.
  • Make sure to cook the chicken thoroughly to an internal temperature of 165°F for food safety.
  • These wraps are best enjoyed immediately to maintain the crispness of the lettuce.
