Description
A romantic and flavorful Valentine’s dinner featuring perfectly grilled New York Strip Steaks and succulent garlic butter shrimp, enhanced with a fresh garlic parsley compound butter for an unforgettable meal in just 25 minutes.
Ingredients
Scale
Compound Butter
- 1 stick Unsalted Butter (softened)
- 3 cloves Garlic (minced)
- 2 tablespoons Fresh Parsley (chopped)
Steak & Shrimp
- 2 tablespoons Olive Oil (for grilling)
- 2 New York Strip Steaks
- 1 teaspoon Salt (to taste)
- 1 teaspoon Pepper (to taste)
- 1 pound Shrimp (deveined)
Instructions
- Preparation: Gather all ingredients. Soften unsalted butter and mince garlic, chop fresh parsley.
- Make Compound Butter: In a bowl, combine softened unsalted butter, minced garlic, and chopped fresh parsley. Mix well until all ingredients are incorporated. Refrigerate to firm up while preparing the rest of the ingredients.
- Preheat Grill: Heat your grill or grill pan on high heat until very hot to ensure perfect searing.
- Season Steaks: Pat dry the New York strip steaks with paper towels. Brush each steak lightly with olive oil and season generously with salt and pepper on both sides.
- Grill Steaks: Place steaks on the hot grill and cook for 4-5 minutes per side, aiming for medium-rare (internal temperature of 130-135°F). Remove steaks from grill, place on a plate, and immediately spread half of the garlic parsley compound butter over them. Let steaks rest for 5-10 minutes to retain juices.
- Cook Shrimp: In the same pan or grill, melt the remaining garlic butter over medium heat. Season deveined shrimp with salt and pepper, then grill for 2-3 minutes per side until shrimp turn pink and opaque, indicating they are fully cooked.
- Toss Shrimp: Toss the grilled shrimp in the melted garlic butter for extra flavor, ensuring they are well coated.
- Serve: Serve the succulent garlic butter shrimp alongside the rested New York strip steaks, garnished with any remaining compound butter if desired for a perfect Valentine’s meal.
Notes
- For best results, use fresh high-quality steaks and fresh shrimp.
- Letting the steaks rest after grilling ensures juicy and tender meat.
- You can substitute parsley with cilantro or thyme for a different herb flavor.
- If you don’t have a grill, a grill pan or cast iron skillet works well on stovetop.
- Adjust cooking times based on steak thickness and shrimp size to avoid overcooking.
