Description

Peach Hibiscus Sunset Tea is a refreshing and vibrant summer beverage that combines the tartness of hibiscus flowers with the sweetness of ripe peaches. This naturally caffeine-free tea is lightly sweetened and perfect served cold or warm, making it an ideal hydrating drink for sunny days or any time you need a fruity, floral pick-me-up.

Ingredients

Scale

Tea Base

  • 1 cup dried hibiscus flowers (whole or loosely packed for depth of flavor)
  • 2 cups purified water

Fruit

  • 1 large fresh peach, peeled and chopped into bite-sized cubes (can substitute with mango or nectarine)

Sweetener

  • Honey or sugar to taste (adjust according to preference)

Instructions

  1. Simmer Hibiscus Flowers: In a medium saucepan, combine 2 cups of purified water with 1 cup of dried hibiscus flowers. Heat over medium heat, bringing the mixture to a gentle simmer. Let it simmer for about 5 minutes to extract the floral flavors.
  2. Steep the Tea: Remove the saucepan from the heat and cover it. Allow the hibiscus flowers to steep in the hot water for 10 to 15 minutes to deepen the flavor and color.
  3. Prepare the Peach: While the tea steep, wash and peel the large peach. Then chop it into bite-sized cubes to add freshness and natural sweetness to the tea.
  4. Strain the Hibiscus Tea: Strain the steeped hibiscus liquid through a fine mesh sieve into a pitcher, removing the flower petals to yield a smooth tea base.
  5. Add Chopped Peaches: Stir the chopped peach cubes gently into the strained hibiscus tea, allowing the fruit to infuse the tea with its sweetness and texture.
  6. Sweeten the Tea: While the tea is still warm, add honey or sugar to taste. Stir until fully dissolved, balancing the tartness with your preferred level of sweetness.
  7. Chill (Optional): If you prefer to serve the tea cold, let it cool to room temperature, then refrigerate until chilled before serving. This enhances the refreshing quality of the drink.

Notes

  • Use purified or filtered water for the cleanest taste.
  • Adjust the steeping time to control the intensity of the hibiscus flavor.
  • Substitute peach with mango or nectarine depending on preference and seasonal availability.
  • For a vegan option, use sugar instead of honey.
  • Serve over ice for an extra-cool summer treat.
  • Store refrigerated and consume within 2-3 days for best freshness.
