Ingredients
Scale
Filling
- 1 block (8 ounces) cream cheese, softened at room temperature
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- 4 teaspoons grated lemon peel (from 1 large lemon)
Dough
- 1 can (8 ounces) refrigerated crescent rolls or crescent dough sheets
- 1 tablespoon butter, melted
Glaze and Garnish
- ½ cup powdered sugar
- 2 to 3 teaspoons fresh lemon juice
- Fresh grated lemon peel for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven and prepare the baking sheet: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a baking sheet or line it with parchment paper to prevent the rolls from sticking.
- Mix cream cheese, sugar, and lemon peel: In a medium bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, granulated sugar, and grated lemon peel. Mix thoroughly until the mixture is smooth and creamy with no lumps.
- Fill crescent dough with the cream cheese mixture and roll up: Unroll crescent dough and separate into triangles. Spoon an equal amount of the cream cheese mixture onto the wide end of each triangle. Carefully roll each triangle up from the wide end to the pointed tip and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake until golden brown: Brush the tops of the rolls with melted butter. Bake in the preheated oven for about 12 to 15 minutes or until the crescent rolls are puffed and golden brown.
- Prepare lemon glaze and drizzle over warm rolls: While the rolls are baking, whisk together powdered sugar and fresh lemon juice until smooth and pourable. Once the rolls are baked, remove them from the oven and immediately drizzle the lemon glaze over them while they’re still warm.
- Garnish with fresh lemon peel if desired and serve: Optionally, sprinkle fresh grated lemon peel over the glazed rolls for an extra pop of lemon flavor, then serve warm or at room temperature.
Notes
- For best texture, make sure the cream cheese is fully softened before mixing.
- You can adjust the amount of lemon juice in the glaze to your preferred sweetness and tartness balance.
- These rolls are best served fresh but can be stored in an airtight container and gently reheated.
- Try adding a teaspoon of vanilla extract to the filling for a subtle flavor boost.
