Description
A quick and flavorful Honey Garlic Chicken Breasts recipe that combines tender seared chicken with a sweet and savory honey garlic sauce. Perfect for a simple and delicious weeknight dinner.
Ingredients
Scale
Chicken
- 2 large chicken breasts
Sauce
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 1-2 teaspoons oil (optional, for searing)
Instructions
- Prepare the Pan and Chicken: Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and add oil if desired to prevent sticking. Once hot, place the chicken breasts in the skillet.
- Sear the Chicken: Cook the chicken breasts for 5 to 7 minutes on each side until they develop a golden brown crust. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside temporarily.
- Sauté Garlic: In the same skillet, add minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant, taking care not to burn the garlic.
- Add Sauce Ingredients: Pour in the soy sauce and honey, stirring well to combine and dissolve the honey into the sauce.
- Simmer Chicken in Sauce: Return the seared chicken breasts to the skillet. Reduce the heat to low and let them simmer in the sauce for about 10 minutes. Flip the chicken occasionally to ensure even cooking and allow the sauce to thicken and glaze the chicken.
- Serve: Once fully cooked (internal temperature reaches 165°F/74°C) and sauce is thickened, remove from heat and serve immediately, spooning the honey garlic sauce over the chicken.
Notes
- For best results, use a meat thermometer to ensure chicken is cooked through.
- Adjust honey and soy sauce quantities to taste if you prefer it sweeter or saltier.
- Use low-sodium soy sauce to reduce sodium content.
- The recipe can be accompanied by rice, steamed vegetables, or a salad.
- Adding a pinch of red pepper flakes to the sauce can add a nice spicy kick if desired.
