Description

This Homemade Ginger Shots recipe is a quick and invigorating blend of fresh ginger, turmeric, lemon juice, and coconut water sweetened with honey, designed to boost your immune system and energize your day. Perfect for health enthusiasts seeking a natural, zesty tonic with anti-inflammatory benefits.

Ingredients

Scale

Fresh Ingredients

  • 4 oz or 110g fresh ginger, washed (no need to peel)
  • 1/2 tsp ground turmeric or 1 oz fresh turmeric
  • 2 medium lemons, juiced (about 55g juice)

Liquids and Flavorings

  • 1 ยฝ cups (12 oz or 345g) coconut water
  • 1 tbsp (20g) honey or maple syrup (add more as needed)
  • 1/4 tsp celtic sea salt
  • Pinch of black pepper

Instructions

  1. Prep the ginger and lemon: Thoroughly wash the fresh ginger root to remove any dirt or impurities. Since the mixture will be strained, peeling is optional, saving time and preserving nutrients. Juice the lemons to extract approximately 55g of fresh juice, ensuring no seeds are included.
  2. Blend the shots: Add the washed ginger, turmeric (ground or fresh), freshly squeezed lemon juice, coconut water, honey or maple syrup, sea salt, and a pinch of black pepper into a high-speed blender. Begin blending on a low speed and gradually increase to medium-high over two minutes to fully combine the flavors and extract maximum juice.
  3. Strain and store: Place a nut milk bag or fine mesh sieve over a bowl or wide-mouth jar. Pour the blended mixture through the strainer to remove pulp and fibrous material, resulting in a smooth, concentrated shot. Transfer the strained liquid into a clean glass jar and refrigerate. The ginger shots will keep fresh for up to one week. Serve 2 oz per shot for best results.

Notes

  • Peeling ginger is optional since the juice is strained.
  • Fresh turmeric can be substituted with ground turmeric if unavailable.
  • Adjust honey or maple syrup to taste depending on sweetness preference.
  • Store the shots in an airtight glass container in the refrigerator for up to 7 days.
  • Shake well before each use as natural settling may occur.
  • 2 oz is considered one serving size for maximum potency and ease of consumption.
