Description

A wholesome and delicious Healthy Breakfast Apple Crumble featuring tender cinnamon-spiced apples topped with a crunchy oat and pecan crumble, baked to golden perfection. Perfect for a nutritious morning treat that balances natural sweetness and healthy fats.

Ingredients

Scale

Fruit Filling

  • 6 sweet apples, chopped into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 tbsp cinnamon
  • Pinch of salt
  • 2 tsp coconut oil

Crumble Topping

  • 2/3 cup oats
  • 2/3 cup pecans
  • 2 tsp coconut oil
  • 2 tsp honey
  • A splash of water

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Heat the oven to 180C (350F) to prepare for baking the apple crumble.
  2. Sautรฉ apples: In a sautรฉ pan, combine the chopped apples with cinnamon, a pinch of salt, and 2 teaspoons of coconut oil. Cook over medium heat for 2-3 minutes until the apples are slightly softened and infused with flavors.
  3. Prepare the crumble topping: In a food processor, blend oats, pecans, remaining 2 teaspoons of coconut oil, honey, and a splash of water until the mixture forms a crumbly texture that will become the topping.
  4. Assemble the crumble: Grease a baking pan lightly with coconut oil. Spread the sautรฉed apple mixture evenly at the bottom, then sprinkle the oat and pecan crumble mixture evenly over the top.
  5. Bake: Place the baking pan in the preheated oven and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and crisp.

Notes

  • Use sweet apples like Fuji or Honeycrisp for natural sweetness without adding extra sugar.
  • You can substitute pecans with walnuts or almonds if preferred.
  • For a vegan version, ensure the honey is replaced with maple syrup or agave nectar.
  • Ensure the crumble topping is evenly spread for uniform baking and crispiness.
  • Serve warm with a dollop of yogurt or plant-based cream for extra indulgence.
