Description

This Grilled Dijon Salmon recipe features tender, flavorful salmon fillets brushed with a tangy mustard glaze and grilled to perfection. With a subtle balance of Dijon and whole grain mustard, olive oil, lemon juice, garlic, and honey, this healthy and easy-to-make dish is perfect for summer grilling or a quick weeknight dinner.

Ingredients

Scale

Salmon and Seasoning

  • 4 salmon fillets, about 6 ounces each
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Mustard Glaze

  • 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon whole grain mustard
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon honey

Optional Garnish

  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh dill
  • Lemon slices for serving

Instructions

  1. Preheat the grill: Heat your grill to medium-high, about 400°F (204°C). Lightly oil the grates to prevent sticking.
  2. Prepare the salmon: Pat the salmon fillets dry with paper towels. Season both sides evenly with salt and black pepper to enhance flavor.
  3. Make the mustard glaze: In a small bowl, whisk together Dijon mustard, whole grain mustard, olive oil, fresh lemon juice, minced garlic, and honey until smooth and well combined.
  4. Coat the salmon: Brush the mustard mixture evenly over the top side of each salmon fillet, ensuring a generous and even coating.
  5. Grill the salmon: Place the salmon fillets on the grill skin side down. Close the grill lid and cook for 4 to 5 minutes per side. Grill until the salmon flakes easily with a fork and reaches an internal temperature of 125 to 130°F (52 to 54°C) for medium doneness.
  6. Serve: Remove the salmon from the grill and sprinkle with chopped fresh dill if desired. Serve immediately with lemon slices on the side for added brightness.

Notes

  • If you prefer baking, cook the salmon at 400°F (204°C) for 12 to 15 minutes until cooked through.
  • For a stronger mustard flavor, increase the Dijon mustard to 3 tablespoons.
  • Let the salmon rest for a few minutes after cooking to allow the juices to redistribute and keep the fish moist.
