Description
This Easy Baked Caesar Chicken recipe features tender chicken breasts topped with creamy Caesar dressing, melted provolone cheese, and crispy Caesar-style croutons baked to golden perfection. A simple and flavorful dish perfect for a weeknight dinner or casual gathering.
Ingredients
Scale
Chicken
- 2 lbs. boneless, skinless chicken breasts (pounded to an even thickness)
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
Topping
- ½ cup creamy Caesar dressing
- 8 slices provolone cheese
- 1 cup Caesar-style croutons
Instructions
- Preheat and prepare baking dish: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish to prevent sticking.
- Arrange and season chicken: Place the pounded chicken breasts single layer in the baking dish. Season both sides evenly with salt and black pepper.
- Apply Caesar dressing and cheese: Spread the creamy Caesar dressing evenly over each chicken breast. Lay the provolone cheese slices over the dressing, completely covering each piece.
- Prepare crouton topping: Place the Caesar-style croutons into a large Ziplock bag and crush them into fine crumbs. Evenly sprinkle the crouton crumbs over the cheese on the chicken.
- Bake the chicken: Bake the chicken on the center oven rack for 25 to 30 minutes, or until the chicken is fully cooked through and the crouton topping is golden brown. To avoid burning, tent the dish loosely with foil if the topping browns too quickly. The chicken is done when it reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
Notes
- For even cooking, pounding the chicken breasts to an even thickness is recommended.
- If crouton topping browns too fast, cover loosely with foil during baking.
- Use a meat thermometer to ensure chicken is cooked safely to 165°F.
- The recipe works well with other types of cheese like mozzarella or cheddar if provolone is unavailable.
- Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator up to 3 days and reheated gently in the oven.
