Main Ingredients
- 1 can canned chicken (drained and shredded, about 12.5 oz)
- 1/2 cup hot sauce (Frank’s RedHot recommended)
- 8 oz cream cheese (softened to room temperature)
- 1/2 cup ranch dressing (can substitute with blue cheese dressing)
- 1/4 cup blue cheese (optional)
- 1 cup cheddar cheese (shredded, divided into 3/4 cup and 1/4 cup for topping)
- 1 tsp garlic powder (can substitute with minced garlic)
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to prepare for baking the dip.
- Prepare the Chicken: Drain the canned chicken well using a colander and shred it into small pieces to ensure even distribution in the dip.
- Mix the Base Ingredients: In a medium bowl, combine the shredded chicken, hot sauce, softened cream cheese, ranch dressing, and garlic powder. Mix thoroughly until the mixture is smooth and evenly blended.
- Add Cheeses: Gently fold in the blue cheese (if using) and 3/4 cup of the shredded cheddar cheese into the mixture for texture and extra flavor.
- Transfer to Baking Dish: Spread the mixture into an 8×8 or 9×9-inch baking dish, smoothing the top evenly.
- Add the Topping: Sprinkle the remaining 1/4 cup of shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the top of the dip.
- Bake the Dip: Place the baking dish into the preheated oven and bake for 30 minutes, or until the dip is hot, bubbly, and golden brown on top.
Notes
- For a spicier dip, increase the amount of hot sauce according to your preference.
- If you prefer, substitute ranch dressing with blue cheese dressing for a different flavor profile.
- The blue cheese is optional and can be omitted or replaced with more cheddar cheese if desired.
- Serve warm with tortilla chips, celery sticks, or crackers for dipping.
- You can prepare the dip mixture in advance and refrigerate it before baking to save time.
