Description

Bunny Bait is a festive and delicious snack mix perfect for Easter gatherings, combining crunchy cereals, pretzels, salted peanuts, and colorful Easter M&Ms, all coated in creamy melted vanilla almond bark and butterscotch chips. This no-bake treat is easy to prepare and makes a delightful sweet and salty snack for springtime celebrations.

Ingredients

Scale

Dry Ingredients

  • 3½ cups Rice Chex cereal
  • 3½ cups honey nut cheerios
  • 1½ cups pretzel sticks
  • ½ cup salted peanuts
  • 10 ounce bag Easter M&Ms
  • ½ cup butterscotch chips

Coating

  • 16 ounces vanilla almond bark (chopped, about 2 cups or 8 squares)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the pan: Line a sheet pan with parchment paper and set it aside to prepare for the mixture.
  2. Mix dry ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the Rice Chex cereal, honey nut cheerios, pretzel sticks, and salted peanuts, mixing well to evenly distribute the ingredients.
  3. Melt vanilla almond bark: Place the chopped vanilla almond bark in a large microwave-safe dish and microwave in 15-second intervals, stirring after each interval until completely melted and smooth.
  4. Combine coating and cereal mix: Pour the melted almond bark over the cereal mixture and toss thoroughly to coat all the ingredients evenly with the melted coating.
  5. Add Easter candies and butterscotch chips: Gently fold the Easter M&Ms and butterscotch chips into the coated mixture, taking care to prevent the candies from cracking.
  6. Transfer to pan: Spread the mixture evenly onto the prepared parchment-lined sheet pan, pressing lightly to ensure an even layer.
  7. Let set: Allow the mixture to set at room temperature for about 45 minutes, or until the almond bark hardens and the mixture holds together.
  8. Serve: Once set, break the Bunny Bait into pieces and transfer to a serving dish or store in an airtight container for later snacking.

Notes

  • For quicker setting, you can refrigerate the mixture instead of leaving it at room temperature.
  • Use gluten-free cereals if you need a gluten-free version.
  • You can substitute the vanilla almond bark with white chocolate chips for a similar taste and texture.
  • Be gentle when stirring in the Easter M&Ms to avoid cracking or melting the candy shells.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week.
