Ingredients
Scale
Meat and Seasonings
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
Sauces and Toppings
- 1/2 cup ketchup
- 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
- 1/4 cup diced red onion
- 1/2 cup diced dill pickles
- Optional sesame seeds for topping
Cheese
- 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
Bread and Oil
- 2 store-bought flatbreads or naan
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
Instructions
- Preheat and Prepare Baking Sheet: Preheat your oven to 400°F (204°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking and make cleanup easy.
- Cook the Ground Beef: Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the ground beef and season it with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Cook thoroughly, breaking up the meat with a spoon until browned and fully cooked through. Drain any excess grease to avoid sogginess on the flatbreads.
- Make the Sauce Mixture: In a small bowl, combine the ketchup and yellow mustard. Stir well until blended to create a tangy sauce to spread on the flatbreads.
- Assemble the Flatbreads: Place the flatbreads on the prepared baking sheet. Spread the ketchup and mustard mixture evenly across each flatbread, ensuring full coverage for maximum flavor.
- Add Beef and Cheese: Distribute the cooked ground beef evenly over each flatbread layer. Then sprinkle the shredded cheddar and mozzarella cheeses on top to allow them to melt beautifully in the oven.
- Bake the Flatbreads: Bake in the preheated oven for 10 to 12 minutes, or until the cheese has melted and is bubbly, and the edges of the flatbreads are crisp.
- Add Fresh Toppings and Serve: Remove the flatbreads from the oven and immediately top with diced red onions and dill pickles for crunch and added flavor. Sprinkle sesame seeds if desired. Slice into portions and serve warm.
Notes
- For extra flavor, add cooked bacon crumbles on top before baking.
- Swap cheddar cheese for American cheese to create a more classic cheeseburger taste.
- Serve with shredded lettuce and a drizzle of burger sauce for a fun twist and added freshness.
