Ingredients
- 1 cup self-raising flour (or 1 cup plain flour + 2 tsp baking powder)
- 1 cup yogurt
- Egg wash (optional, for brushing)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven: Set your oven to 180ºC (350ºF) to prepare it for baking the rolls.
- Mix dough: In a bowl, combine the self-raising flour and yogurt until a dough forms. It will be slightly sticky but manageable.
- Shape dough: Turn the dough onto a floured surface and gently bring it together without overworking it.
- Form rolls: Cut the dough into even-sized pieces and roll each piece into a small mini loaf shape.
- Apply egg wash: If desired, brush the tops of the dough pieces with a little egg wash to help achieve a golden crust.
- Bake: Place the rolls on a baking tray and bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes, or until they are risen and golden brown.
- Serve: Allow to cool slightly and serve your bread rolls warm or cold as preferred.
Notes
- You can substitute plain flour with baking powder (2 tsp) to make self-raising flour if not available.
- Egg wash is optional but gives a nice golden, shiny crust.
- Do not over-knead the dough to keep the rolls soft and tender.
- These rolls are best eaten fresh but can be stored in an airtight container for 1-2 days.
